Tis’ The Season for Tacky

It’s finally here!

One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season is seeing all the decorations go up – the best ones are the most over the top.

Holiday decorating is a very personal thing, and everyone’s taste is different.  When a home is up for sale, we advise our ERG Seller Clients to keep it low-key.  Nothing too personal.  Nothing too over the top.  And avoid inflatables at all costs!

Not to offend any of you who may embrace these gaudy and noisy eyesores, but I mean….

Nothing says “Happy Birthday Jesus” like an inflatable nativity scene.

Or Happy Hanukkah like a giant bear and dreidel!

Make sure you keep your exterior illumination to a minimum, no Clark Griswald-esque displays while your home is on the market!

And low-key doesn’t stop at the curb.

While I find this beer bottle tree pretty awesome, it could turn off a buyer or two.

Try to keep your decorations (not to mention the wallpaper border) from distracting the perspective buyer…..

Or covering up every square inch of the home.

Good luck with your decorating, and be safe!  Merry Christmas everyone!
